| White Marine, Inc. was responsible for the complete overhaul of a multi-draw wire machine in a leading wire manufacturing plant in New Jersey. These repairs were time critical to the operation of their facility. Taking advantage of their company’s yearly shutdown over a holiday, we were able to overhaul this machine and minimize downtime.
In less than 10 days working two shifts we were able to completely rebuild a 9-step progressive die wire draw machine. The first few shifts we were able to disassemble clean and inspect all the components. We found that two of the drive shafts had been previously modified which meant additional work would be required to return them to original specs. The next few shifts we carefully removed the large wheels in order to reuse the wheels on the new idler shafts as needed. Once this was completed we then set up to reassemble the machine following the manufacturer’s plans. Upon completion we ran tests and made necessary adjustments as needed to return the machine to full production capabilities.
On average the company rebuilds this machine every 7 to 10 years with a usual rebuild time of 15 days working around the clock using their own employees. We achieved the same result saving the company a substantial amount of downtime.
